Build days around conditions
Schedule demanding walks for cooler hours and leave room for an indoor visit or shaded break. Lisbon, Porto, Sintra and the Algarve can have different conditions on the same date. Check IPMA rather than assuming one country-wide temperature.
Book the anchors
Arrange accommodation, timed visits and a specific restaurant ahead if they are important. Use the organiser’s own event announcement before building a trip around a festival. Last year’s dates do not confirm the next edition.
Keep outdoor plans flexible
Use designated beach access and follow flags. Ask boat or kayak operators about weather policies and current restrictions. Check forest notices before setting out. Keep an alternative for cancelled outdoor activities rather than feeling pressure to complete a risky plan.
