Station or historic centre?
Sintra station and the National Palace are separate points. A stay near the station helps with luggage and rail connections; the historic centre puts the National Palace and evening restaurants closer. Check the walking route, gradient and vehicle access to the accommodation, especially with heavy bags.
São Pedro and Colares
These areas suit travellers who accept extra transport planning. Colares is useful for a stay that also includes the coast; it does not make Pena a quick walk. Ask your host how to reach the property after dinner and whether parking is included. Compare convenience as well as room prices.
Ask before booking
Confirm heating or cooling, lift access, luggage storage and the final room price. A rental car is not a solution for driving to Pena: restrictions apply on the palace hill. Choose one main visit for your first morning and arrange transport around its ticket time. For a short stay, location often matters more than a cheaper room far from your route.
