Historic centre first
Combine São Bento, the streets around Clérigos and a descent to Ribeira. Book Lello or a tower visit if either is essential and leave other walking time flexible. Remember the return uphill when judging distances.
Give Gaia and the west their own time
Cross to Gaia for river views and a cellar visit. On another day, choose Serralves or the Atlantic waterfront in Foz. These work better as distinct parts of a trip than additions to one overfilled historic-centre loop.
Choose paid sights deliberately
Read opening notices and ticket inclusions. Serralves has different access products, while a Clérigos ticket is not a city transport pass. Leave room for lunch and weather. A shorter route with time inside one attraction can be more satisfying than passing several entrances without stopping.
