Portas do Sol and Santa Luzia fit an Alfama walk. Graça and Senhora do Monte need additional climbing. São Pedro de Alcântara suits another part of the centre. Pick one cluster instead of trying to reach every viewpoint in an afternoon.
Plan for light and weather
Sunset views depend on cloud and season. Visit for the neighbourhood as well as the photograph and keep a flexible stop nearby. Carry water in hot weather and wear shoes with grip after rain.
Leave space for others
Keep steps, pavements and entrances clear. Do not stand in traffic or enter private terraces for photographs. If the climb is unsuitable, verify an accessible transport option and the final approach. A viewpoint’s name does not establish that the entire route is step-free.
