Performance or dinner show?
Decide whether music is the main purpose or part of a longer meal. Compare the performance format, time and dining arrangements before booking. A low entry price may exclude dinner or come with a minimum spend.
Build some context
The Museu do Fado is a starting point for exploring the music and its programme. Alfama and Bairro Alto are associated with fado, but a neighbourhood name does not tell you what a venue offers on your date. Use the venue’s own programme to make the booking.
Make the evening comfortable
Explain dietary needs before reserving dinner, arrive at the requested time and avoid talking through performances. Check photography rules rather than assuming filming is welcome. Plan the return if you stay late. Compare the complete bill, including drinks, when deciding between a concert and a restaurant evening.
