Choose the beach that fits your day
For a simple train-and-beach day, start with Conceição or Duquesa in Cascais, or Tamariz in Estoril. Praia da Rainha is a small beach in Cascais itself, not Estoril. Pick somewhere close to a station if you want to avoid arranging another transfer at the end of the day.
Town beaches or an Atlantic outing?
Guincho is a separate outing west of town, with an exposed Atlantic setting. Wind can make a picnic less comfortable even on a sunny day. Adraga belongs to the Sintra coast and should be planned separately. Choose a supervised beach and follow the flags: a sheltered-looking bay does not guarantee safe swimming.
Make the journey easy
Use the Cascais line from Cais do Sodré and check CP for your date. Choose Estoril for Tamariz or Cascais for the town beaches. For Guincho, check onward transport before leaving. Take water and a layer for wind. Food, lounger hire and lessons vary by operator: request current prices rather than relying on a coast-wide tariff.
