3 days in Lisbon

A manageable first visit: one day in the historic centre, one in Belém and one with space for your interests.

Day 1 · Baixa, Chiado and Alfama

Start around Praça do Comércio and Baixa, then walk into Chiado before the busiest lunch period. Choose a café stop and leave time to enjoy the streets rather than collecting landmarks.

In the afternoon, explore Alfama. If São Jorge Castle is a priority, check opening times and buy through its official ticket channel. The steep streets and uneven paving make supportive shoes useful. For the evening, book a fado venue whose meal, minimum spend and performance arrangements you understand.

Day 2 · Belém without rushing

Travel west to Belém and make Jerónimos your main timed visit if tickets are available. The operator lists Monday closure, so swap days when necessary. Allow time for the waterfront and a pastry stop.

Choose a second museum or a longer riverside walk rather than assuming every monument fits. Check current access for Belém Tower before including an interior visit. A waterfront lunch or early dinner makes this a relaxed day; return by the transport route operating on your travel date.

Day 3 · A neighbourhood day

Choose the Gulbenkian area and its current exhibitions, or Parque das Nações for a modern waterfront contrast. Check the attraction you actually want to enter rather than assuming one ticket covers everything on a campus.

Save the afternoon for shopping, a viewpoint or a neighbourhood you liked. Tram 28 is regular transport with queues and limited capacity, not a guaranteed seated sightseeing tour. Avoid planning it as the only way to reach a timed booking.

Budget and booking

Use €110–190 per person per day as an illustrative mid-range city allowance when sharing a room, not as a guaranteed trip price. Intercity journeys, flights, local accommodation taxes and special meals are extra. Your travel dates and selected attractions can change the total substantially.

Compare the checked transport and admission prices before choosing passes. Pay only through your chosen operator's official booking channel and check cancellation conditions.
